Since 2019

We buy coffee the slow way.

Meridian started with one stubborn idea: a bag of coffee should be able to tell you exactly where it came from — the farm, the family, the altitude, the harvest.

Most coffee travels anonymously. It's pooled, blended, and stripped of its origin long before it reaches a roaster. We wanted the opposite. Every lot we sell traces back to a single point on the map, which is why each bag carries its coordinates.

Direct, not just "fair"

We visit the farms we buy from. We shake hands, walk the rows, and agree on a price above Fair Trade minimums — because a good harvest next year depends on a farmer being paid properly for this one. Nine of our origins come from producers we've worked with for more than three years.

Roasted to order

Coffee is at its best in the weeks right after roasting, not the months. So we don't stockpile. When you order, your beans are roasted that same week and shipped within 24 hours — valve-sealed so they arrive still carrying the aromatics we worked to develop.

Small batch, on purpose

Our drum roaster holds twelve kilos at a time. That's small by industry standards, and we like it that way: it lets our roasters chase the character of each individual lot instead of forcing everything through one profile. A washed Kenyan and a natural Ethiopian are different animals, and they deserve different roasts.

Where we are

We roast out of a small warehouse in Portland, Oregon. If you're local, come by on a Saturday — the door's usually open and there's always something on the cupping table.
